100k Freeroll Recap: Gameweek 8

The old adage is to try, try again if at first you don’t succeed. Whoever came up with that may or may not have had the Footstock 100k Freeroll in mind, but it certainly seems appropriate for this week’s prize winner. Lagdon gave me the lowdown (Lagdown?) on this particular company of men below.

Overall Leaderboard 💰

Gameweek 8 Leaderboard 🏆

Gameweek 8 Team of the Week ⚽

Lagdon: It’s been a frustrating time with my 100k teams so far this year: lots of near misses, lots of injuries, but this week it finally all came together – even with ten men!

Lookman decided to take the worst penalty ever seen to give my goalkeeper Fabianski a score of 42.05 with a win, penalty save and clean sheet, while my other West Ham asset, Masuaku, also delivered with a respectable 24.6. Finishing up the back line, Ben White has been playing in midfield recently, so I think he is a valuable choice as a one-star defender. Big Lewis Dunk was suspended this week so didn’t contribute.

This specific team has all five Legendary cards involved – and this week they proved their worth. Bruno Fernandes is a no-brainer for me, and has the potential of absolute monster scores. Harry Kane and Heung-min Son continued their good form to score me solid points, and Mo Salah bagged his customary goal. The only five-star player to let me down this week was KDB with his terrible missed penalty.

Finally, Calvert-Lewin failed to deliver, but the star man of the weekend, Ollie Watkins, brought the title home on Sunday evening with a great two goals away at terrible Arsenal. I really like this team and I have high hopes for its overall finish.

Kammy Watch 👀

Aaawkwaaaard! We don’t actually know how Footstock ambassador Chris Kamara got on in the 100k freeroll this week, as the GW8 total was not one of his top six gameweeks. But given his troops hadn’t exactly been setting the heather alight so far this season, it’s probably safe to assume this week was a bit of a shocker!

But, of course, that is the beauty of the tournament – it only takes six big scores between now and the end of the season for any team to bag the ultimate prize. Believe in the unbelievable, Kammy!

There are more gameweek prizes up for grabs after the international break, and of course throughout the whole season. And don’t forget, the winner of the top prize of £25,000 will be based on a team’s top 6 gameweeks – so you can enter at any point up to gameweek 32 and still be in with a chance of a first-place finish in the Footstock 100k Freeroll!
