100k Freeroll Recap: Gameweek 3

The third week of the new Premier League season and the Footstock 100k Freeroll saw yet another hat-trick! This one was perhaps the most unexpected so far. Not in terms of the scorer, goal magnet Jamie Vardy, but due to the fact it came against Manchester City at the Etihad. That helped Gameweek 3 prize winner Billy Bremner to the top of the weekly leaderboard, and we were lucky enough to catch up with King Billy to get the lowdown on his picks …

Gameweek 3 Team of the Week ⚽

Billy:
The strategy I took with this team is I picked a few “pairs” from certain teams. I went with Digne and Richarlison, thinking that if one has a good game, the chances are there will be a few assist/goal combos. The same goes with Robertson and Salah, even though they play on opposite flanks.

Being a Leeds fan, I picked Meslier and Ayling as I know the way we play, keeping plenty of the ball, and it turns out this week we kept a clean sheet.

Then I went with two 5-star players in Bruno Fernandes and Kevin De Bruyne. KDB was actually my lowest scorer this week, but that pair should be the top scorers throughout the season.

Getting Jamie Vardy and Adama Traore with 5 stars between them is sensational. Adama will score 20+ points most games even when Wolves lose, and Golden Boot winner Vardy needs no explanation.

Then I finished with Lamptey as my 1-star pick, which if the first games are anything to go by will be a huge success.

I’m delighted to win the weekly prize, but I think this team could do the business over the whole season!

Kammy Watch 👀

Footstock ambassador Chris Kamara continued his slow start to the season. Ziyech and Cancelo are still yet to feature for the former Bradford manager, and he probably would have preferred Willian to have stayed at home – minus 0.25 points for the Brazilian “helped” Kammy limp to 280th place overall.

But, of course, that is the beauty of the tournament – it only takes six big scores between now and the end of the season for any team to bag the ultimate prize. Believe in the unbelievable, Kammy!

There are more gameweek prizes up for grabs this weekend, and of course throughout the whole season. And don’t forget, the winner of the top prize of £25,000 will be based on a team’s top 6 gameweeks – so you can enter at any point up to gameweek 32 and still be in with a chance of a first-place finish in the Footstock 100K Freeroll!
